Les entered Egypt on the 30th January 1941 with one of the groups of the 4th Reinforcements.
He arrived at Maadi in the early hours of the 1st February
Selected for the LRDG on the 17th February, and shifted to the Citadel , Cairo, on the 18th February.

The captions for the photographs are as Leslie wrote them.
My notes are in italics.

The Citadel, inside of which were our LRDG Barracks.
